Wrestlers from Henryetta, Dewar and Wilson delivered intense performances at their respective regional tournaments, with multiple athletes punching their tickets to the Oklahoma State Wrestling Tournament in Oklahoma City next weekend.

— Henryetta’s Powders, Hamric Return to State The Henryetta Golden Knights sent several wrestlers to the 3A West Regional Tournament on Feb. 22, where two seniors, Jason Powders (165 lbs) and Tayler Hamric (190 lbs), battled their way to a second consecutive trip to the State Tournament.

• Jason Powders secured his spot with a 4th-place finish, pinning his Davis opponent in the second period of the consolation semifinals.

• Tayler Hamric also earned his way to State, rallying from behind to pin Digby of Davis in the second period for a 5th-place finish.

• Jordyn Miller (285 lbs, heavyweight) fought valiantly but fell just short of a third straight State appearance, losing a tight 4-3 decision to Pratt from Hinton. Miller moved up from the 215 lb class this season and faced opponents outweighing him by 30-40 pounds throughout the tournament, proving his resilience and determination.

Henryetta’s Lane Lesley, Caden McKinney and Israel Sanford were eliminated in the consolation rounds.

Knight Vision will provide live coverage of Powders and Hamric as they compete for state titles next weekend in Oklahoma City.

— Dewar’s Clark Hotema Makes School History History was made for the Dewar Dragons, as Clark Hotema became the first wrestler from Dewar Public Schools to qualify for the State Tournament.

Hotema competed in the 3A East Regional Tournament, fighting through the brackets and ultimately finishing 4th place, securing his place among Oklahoma’s elite at the State Tournament in Oklahoma City.

This milestone marks a significant achievement for Dewar’s emerging wrestling program and sets a strong foundation for future Dragon wrestlers.

— Wilson’s Tecumseh Falls Just Short in Semis Wilson saw a strong performance from Zechariah “Boobie” Tecumseh, who made a deep run at the 3A East Regional Tournament.

Tecumseh pinned the #3 seed from Tonkawa (ranked #5 in the state) in under three minutes and followed it up with another quick pin over Newkirk’s #6 seed in less than two minutes. This incredible start set him up for a crucial semifinal matchup against the #2 seed and #3 ranked wrestler in the state. Unfortunately, Tecumseh fell short and did not advance to State.

Despite the loss, his standout regional performance cements him as one of Wilson’s top wrestlers, paving the way for future success in the program.

— State Tournament Awaits

As the Oklahoma State Wrestling Tournament approaches, all eyes will be on Henryetta’s Jason Powders and Tayler Hamric, as well as Dewar’s Clark Hotema, as they prepare to represent their schools on the biggest stage in high school wrestling.
