Charles ‘Chat’ Grimmett

Charles “Chat” Grimmett passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the age of 86 in his home in Liberty Morris. He was born November 16, 1938, to Marvin and Millie (O’Daniel) Grimmett.

Charles enjoyed lifelong adventures of hunting and fishing, from hunting elk in Colorado to driving through a neighbor’s pasture to catch a coyote. Charles had a passion for serving Liberty Baptist Church for over 40 years, where he served as the treasurer, led the singing and worshiped the Lord. July 25, 1959, he married the love of his life, Glenda Kay Yocham, where their marriage exceeded over 65 years. Charles loved spending time with his grandkids, there was a very rare moment, where if you had a conversation with him, he didn’t mention his grandkids.

Charles was proceeded in death by his parents Marvin and Millie Grimmett, oldest son Eddie Grimmett and granddaughter Hannah Wahnee.

Survivors include his wife Glenda Kay Grimmett of Liberty Morris, brother Ray Grimmett and wife Verlie Grimmett of Tecumseh, son David Grimmett and wife Jonell Grimmett of Okmulgee, daughter Alicia Wahnee husband Tommy Wahnee of Morris, grandson Kyle Wahnee and wife Shelly Wahnee of Morris, grandson Tyler November 16, 1938 – February 6, 2025

Wahnee wife Emily Wahnee of Morris, grandson Jacob Grimmett of Morris, granddaughter Whitley Grimmett of Okmulgee, grandson Zach Grimmett of Columbia, Md., granddaughter Katie Clark and husband Kasey Clark of Bixby and numerous cousins and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Viewing will take place from 1-6 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2025, at Liberty Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeff Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund.
