Phyllis Mae Argyle

Phyllis Mae Argyle was born August 14, 1936, in Chelsea, to the late Urban E. and Klovia L. (Smith) Simmons. Phyllis left us and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 88 years of age.

Phyllis moved with her family to Enid at the age of two and then to Edna at the age of four. She attended Edna Elementary School and Oak Grove Rural Elementary before enrolling at Slick High School. In 1952, her family relocated to Oklahoma City, where she graduated from Central High School.

In 1963, Phyllis married George Argyle and embraced the life of a military spouse, traveling to several states where George was stationed with the U.S. Air Force. Together, they raised two sons, Richard Dawane and Ronald Dale Argyle, whom she cherished deeply.

Later, Phyllis moved to Okmulgee, where she worked in finance before co-running Okmulgee Lumber Company with her son Ron. She later joined the Okmulgee Times Newspaper, where she worked for many years until her retirement.

A woman of faith, Phyllis had a deep love for gospel music. She was a talented singer August 14, 1936 – February 1, 2025
