Okmulgee County Basketball Recap

High school basketball action heated up across Okmulgee County this week, with teams facing off in pivotal matchups leading into the final stretch of the regular season. Below is a recap of this week’s games, player performances and final scores.

Several county teams played Tuesday, Feb. 4. The Beggs Golden Demons fell to Kellyville, 64-38, while the Lady Demons secured a hard-fought 42-39 victory.

The Dewar Lady Dragons lost their first game of the season, 44-35 against Weleetka, while the Dragons edged out Weleetka in a nail-biter, 39-37.

The Morris Eagles suffered a tough loss to Eufaula, 75-55, while the Lady Eagles came out on top, winning 46-39.

The Wilson Tigers dominated Mason, 94-42; meanwhile, the Lady Tigers cruised to a 70-23 victory.

The Preston Pirates defeated the county-rival Henryetta Knights 47-42, while the Lady Pirates topped the Lady Knights 34-25.

Today, Beggs will travel to Preston and Henryetta will travel to Morris for a pair of county showdowns. Okmulgee will host Tulsa McLain.

Wilson shines against Mason Wilson’s commanding win over Mason saw standout performances from multiple players: • Anthony Wind Jr.: 36 points, 12 third-quarter points, multiple three-pointers

• Charles Shelburn: 14 points, 12 assists

• Ke’shon Shelburn: 10 points, 4 steals

• Aiden Barnard: 10 points, multiple three-pointers

• Andrew Wilson: 6 points, 9 rebounds

• Esiah King: 6 points

• Izzayah Bear: 4 points

• Zaelynn Bear, Alec Ganote, Zechariah Tecumseh and Talan Dobson scored 2 points each.

The Tigers excelled in shooting, rebounding and ball movement, finishing with 50 team rebounds and 26 assists on 38 made baskets.

— Lady Knights fall short despite strong play Despite their loss to Preston, the Henryetta Lady Knights showcased solid individual efforts:

• Casidy Bailey: 7 points, 2 three-pointers

• Peyton Bailey: 5 points, 13 rebounds

• Keegan Hamric: 6 points

• Allana Lawrence: 5 points

• Serenity Rex: 2 points Henryetta dominated in rebounding with 36 total boards and made a push in the third quarter, outscoring Preston 8-1.
