A multi-vehicle collision that occurred on the morning of Jan. 15 in Okmulgee County has resulted in the death of a Bixby woman, authorities confirmed.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the fatal crash took place at approximately 7:44 a.m. at the intersection of Dentonville Road and OK-56, located about 10 miles southwest of Beggs. The crash involved three vehicles and remains under investigation.
OHP identified one of the drivers as Candice Juergens, 56, of Bixby, who was operating a 2022 Toyota Corolla at the time of the collision. Juergens was initially transported by Okmulgee County EMS to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where she was treated for injuries sustained in the crash. Medical personnel pronounced her deceased on Jan. 29, due to complications from those injuries.
The second vehicle, a 1996 GMC Jimmy, was driven by Johnny Jacobs, Jr., 44, of Okemah. Jacobs was transported by Okmulgee County EMS to Hillcrest South in Tulsa, where he was treated and later released.
The third vehicle involved, a 2015 Buick Enclave, was driven by Paula Sowder, 61, of Okmulgee. She transported herself to Hillcrest South in Tulsa, where she was also treated and released.
Authorities confirmed that no passengers were present in any of the vehicles at the time of the crash.
