Getting Fit
While living in Alaska, we found that the sports in the schools were somewhat different, especially in southeast Alaska. There weren’t any nearby towns to compete against. You couldn’t drive to the next town to compete because there weren’t any roads. You had to go by boat or airplane. Airplane would be too expensive, so they went by ferry. So, often the students had to make two or three day trips for the games.
