County basketball athletes in tourney action

It’s going to be a busy weekend of basketball action for county high school teams with two tourneys in the county.

The Muscogee Nation is hosting its annual tournament at the Dome, featuring Wilson, Preston and Morris, while the Beggs Demons welcome county rival Henryetta to their invitational event.

The Okmulgee Bulldogs are in Miami for the NEO Invitational, while the Dewar Dragons are just a short distance away at the Paden Invitational.

— Muscogee Nation Basketball Invitational Teams: Morris, Wilson, Preston, Latta Allen, Hartshorne, Silo, Wewoka Winners from the first round (girls) will move on to the semifinals scheduled for Friday, with games at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Teams that advance to the finals will face off on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., while consolation games for third and seventh places will be held earlier in the day.

The boys semifinals are slated for Friday at 5:40 p.m. and 8:20 p.m., with the championship showdown set for Saturday at 8 p.m. Placement games for third and seventh places will also take place earlier Saturday.

Admission is $5, and only OSSAA passes will be accepted.

— Beggs Invitational Basketball Tournament Teams: Beggs, Henryetta, Community Christian, Capitol Hill, KIPP, Earlsboro, Southeast, Lexington The Beggs Invitational Basketball Tournament continues through Saturday. Game times begin at 11 a.m. each day. The final game will be played at 8:20 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, and concessions will be available all day.

The NEO Invitational is underway through Saturday in Miami. The remaining schedule is as follows: Friday: Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs vs. Miami, 4:30 p.m. (NEO Gym); Okmulgee Bulldogs vs. Colcord, 9 p.m. (Student Activity Center) Saturday: Lady Bulldogs vs. Welch, 1:30 p.m. (Student Activity Center); Okmulgee Bulldogs vs. Mc-Donald County, 4:30 p.m. (NEO Gym) — Paden Invitational Tournament

The Dewar Dragons are in Paden Friday and Saturday as the Paden Invitational Tournament is underway. Dewar is on a hot streak as the Dragons sit at 10-1 and the Lady Dragons continue their perfect 13-0 season.
