Wilma Jean Sprouse

Wilma Jean Sprouse, a longtime resident of Dewar, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at her home in Dewar at the age of 86.

Wilma was born August 19, 1938, to Raymond Cecil (Bus) Sparks and Alice (Pennington) Sparks. She married John Sprouse April 16, 1965, in Union Valley. She was a member of Silver Spring Baptist Church. She graduated from Dewar High School in 1956. She then graduated from Oklahoma A&M College with an Accounting Degree in 1958 and graduated from Okmulgee Cosmetology School in 1974. She opened Wilma’s Beauty Shop in Dewar in 1974, staying open until 1980. She worked for the City of Dewar 1982-1987.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bus and Alice Sparks; two brothers, Johnny Sparks and Cecil Sparks as well as a sister-inlaw, Linda Sparks.

She is survived by her husband, John of the home; son, Tony Sprouse of Denver; a niece, Sherry Whitlow and husband Mike; two August 19, 1938 – January 18, 2025

nephews, Gary Sparks and wife Lynn; Jeff Sparks and wife Amy; great nieces and nephews, Dillon Caywood, Nick Caywood, Rhett Whitlow, Ty Whitlow and Gabriella Whitlow; and also by a host of friends and other relatives.

Viewing for Wilma will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Gary Sparks, Jeff Sparks, Nick Caywood, Rhett Whitlow and Ty Whitlow.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2025, at Integrity Chapel, with Rev. Dennis Bible officiating and eulogy by Kelly Ingold. Interment will follow at Council Hill Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
