Marjorie Louise (Hardesty) Edmonds passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Okmulgee, at 87 years of age. She was born July 4, 1937, in Henryetta to the late Robert Henry and Thelma Louise (Howell) Hardesty. She graduated from Morris High School with the class of 1956. Marjorie married Donnie Eugene Edmonds on January 23, 1957. They were lifelong residents of the Morris area.
Marjorie worked at Southwestern Bell/ AT&T for 35 years in both Okmulgee and Tulsa. She began as a switchboard operator and ended her career as a payphone coin collector. After retiring from AT&T in the early 1990s, she worked part time as a switchboard operator at OSUIT for several years.
Marjorie enjoyed holidays and all family gatherings. She always brought her camera and insisted on taking pictures of everyone present. Marjorie’s grandchildren called her Grandmother and she found joy in making memories with them. She especially enjoyed trips to the pumpkin July 4, 1937 – January 18, 2025
patch and carving jacko- lanterns with them. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting and piecing quilts. The cathedral quilt was her favorite pattern, and she made it several times. She made sure that all babies in the family received a crocheted afghan or baby quilt from her. Marjorie enjoyed canning garden vegetables and making pickles for her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie; and grandson Robert Edmonds.
Survivors include her children Don Vernon Edmonds, Lisa Casselman, Debra (Debbie) Pearce (husband Jim); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers Robert Hardesty, Michael Hardesty; sisters Sue Mann and Kathleen Shellnutt; sister-in-law Phyllis Shoemake (husband Max); several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the funeral home Thursday from 12-6 p.m.
A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at Morris Cemetery Chapel, with Reverend Gary McKeen officiating. Interment will take place at Morris Cemetery.
