Vernon Leroy Long, a lifelong resident of Henryetta, passed away peacefully at his home on January 7, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on April 5, 1928, in Schulter, he was the son of William Crayton Long Sr. and Josephine Catherine (Cobb) Long.
During World War II, Mr. Long

served in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1947. His commitment to community service was evident through his active membership in several local organizations, including Henryetta VFW Post 539, Henryetta Lions Club and Okmulgee Elks Club.
In the coming days, a memorial service will be held at the Integrity Chapel to honor Mr. Long’s life and legacy.
