The HERPS Exotic Reptile & Pet Show is set to captivate visitors at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center this weekend, Jan. 11-12. Known as one of the largest reptile expos in the United States, the event promises an exciting and educational experience for both seasoned reptile enthusiasts and curious newcomers.

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, offering attendees a rare opportunity to explore a wide variety of exotic animals, meet expert breeders and shop for unique pet supplies. The event has built a reputation for its clean, family-friendly atmosphere and commitment to safety for both visitors and animals.

HERPS, short for herpetofauna, encompasses reptiles and amphibians – creatures often overlooked in favor of more traditional pets like dogs and cats. From turtles and snakes to frogs and iguanas, the expo showcases an incredible range of species and highlights the growing popularity of herpetoculture in Shawnee and beyond.

Visitors can look forward to:

• Interactive Exhibits: Explore a wide variety of reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and even small mammals.

• Educational Opportunities: Meet industry professionals and expert breeders who can answer questions and share insights into the care and handling of these unique pets.

• Shopping Galore: Stock up on pet supplies, including enclosures, food and accessories designed specifically for exotic pets.

• Family-Friendly Fun: The event is designed to engage attendees of all ages, making it a perfect weekend outing for families.

Both our citizens and out-of-town guests look forward to this show every year. It’s a great example of how Shawnee can host fun, educational events that bring people together and showcase the versatility of our expo center.”

The show’s organizers are dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience, emphasizing their commitment to rule compliance and responsible animal care.
