Lions Club
January 10, 2025
Mark Baker as Lion of the Year

Okmulgee Lions Club proudly recognized Mark Baker as the 2024 Lion of the Year during its Tuesday meeting.

A member since early 2024, Baker has quickly become an invaluable part of the club. Known for his willingness to step in wherever needed, his enthusiasm for volunteer work and his dependable nature, Baker has made a significant impact in a short time.

“Mark fills in where there’s a need, he volunteers for as much as he can, and he’s an all-around dependable person,” a club representative shared.

The Lions Club extends its heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to Mark for his dedication to service.

— Lions Welcome Newest Member, Pastor Jeffrey Francis Tuesday’s Okmulgee Lions Club meeting spotlighted its newest member, Pastor Jeffrey Francis, who shared his story and experiences during his 15 minutes of fame.

A native of Tulsa, Pastor Francis currently serves as the pastor of Okmulgee First Presbyterian Church. He was a Lions Club member in Logan, West Virginia, from 1990 to 1994. His impressive background includes a master’s degree in divinity from Chicago, a master’s and Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Tulsa, and his current role as a chaplain at TU.

Francis, a Memorial High School alumnus, has a deep passion for reading and an annual tradition of traveling to Scotland to study the Scottish Reformation with students.

Pastor Francis is married and has two children: a son in New Hampshire and a daughter in Tulsa. The club welcomed him with a resounding Lions’ roar and celebrated his addition to their membership.

— Students of the Month Honored

The Okmulgee Lions Club recognized its November and December Students of the Month during Tuesday’s meeting, celebrating their achievements and potential.

The November honorees are Demetrius Alexander and Sai Vickers, while Brylee Edlin and Joseph Pelky were recognized for December. Each student was praised for their dedication, accomplishments, and bright futures.

The Lions Club proudly serves its community, ensuring support and recognition for outstanding individuals.
