Roney L. Wilson
Obituaries
January 8, 2025
Roney L. Wilson

It is said our life is like an open book, with many blank pages. And each day as we live our deeds are recorded, chapter by chapter. Until we close our eyes in death. Amen.

Roney L. Wilson began to fill his book when he was born on March 8, 1953, in Okmulgee to James E. and Estella (Drew) Wilson.

Roney was a resident of Okmulgee, and he attended Okmulgee Public Schools, where he graduated in 1974.

After his completion of high school, he enlisted into the United States Army, where he completed many duties while serving. Roney was eventually promoted to the rank of First Class Sergeant. In 1991, Roney retired from the United States Army with an honorable discharge.

Roney was a very giving person, but he also March 8, 1953 – December 23, 2024

was very firm. Anywhere he would go, he never met a stranger. Roney thoroughly enjoyed telling jokes, loved going fishing and talking about his life while in the United States Army.

Roney’s book was filled on December 23, 2024. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his six sisters; Charlene (Ray) Wilson of Okmulgee, Joyce Wilson of Okmulgee, Cheryl Wilson Henry of Okmulgee, Cynthia (Ronald) Jackson of Texas, Carol Wilson of Okmulgee, Jackie (Wilson) Colbert of Okmulgee and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Roney Lee Wilson, after 69 years, transitioned from labor to refreshment on Monday afternoon, December 23, 2024, in Okmulgee.

The final hour with Mr. Wilson was held Friday morning, January 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Love International Christian Ministries, 721 N. Hilman in Okmulgee. Burial followed with Military Honors at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. – Okmulgee Chapel.
