William Lewis Moore (Bill), a long-time resident of Okmulgee, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024. He was 70.
Bill was born February 5, 1954, in Okmulgee to Lewis and Isabelle (Milroy) Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his son, Kendall Moore and fiancé, Kathrine Triplett of Richmond, Mo.; and grandchildren Bailey, Brice and Asher Moore of Richmond. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Crowley and husband Nolan; as well as nieces Isabella Crowley of Norman and Anna Crowley Zerbe and husband Riley of Tulsa. He is also survived by a host of cousins and friends, and friend and roommate Richard Neils of the home.
William graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1972. He attended Oklahoma State University and achieved an Associate’s Degree from OSU Tech in electrical maintenance. He spent many years working around the state and in Missouri. After retiring, he spend the last 25 years in Okmulgee. He was well-known around Okmulgee for his giant sunflowers that he grew February 5, 1954 – December 29, 2024
each year around his house. He and his sunflowers for many years were featured in the Okmulgee Daily Times. William enjoyed gardening and won many ribbons at the Okmulgee County Fair. Bill’s favorite things included fishing, hunting, his gardens, his dogs and the time he spent at the Milroy Farm. William was known for his kind heart and his desire to help those who needed it.
No services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
