To kick off the new year, legislative briefings from Oklahoma State Representatives will resume Friday, Jan. 3.
The Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce will hold their Legislative Forum at 8:30 a.m. at the Mabrey Meeting Room, 111 E. 6th Street, in Okmulgee. Reps. Scott Fetgatter and Chris Banning are scheduled to speak.
At 11 a.m., Rep. Fetgatter will be in Henryetta to speak at a Legislative Briefing to be held at Shoney’s.
Also scheduled for Friday evening is the Candidate Forum for District 1 County Commissioners. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Twin Hills School Gymnasium.
According to Okmulgee County Republican Chair Marsheila Prior, this forum will include only the commissioner candidates on the Feb. 11, 2025, ballot. Candidates are Ernie Ferreira and Jacob Branson, who are both registered Republicans.
The other candidates, one a registered Independent and the other a Democrat, automatically progressed to the April 1, 2025, election date.
There will also be a forum on Jan. 9, 2025. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church annex building, 6962 Happy Camp Rd. in. Beggs.
This forum will include only the candidates on the Feb. 11, 2025, ballot (Ferreira and Branson).
Three Beggs School Board Office 5 candidates have also been invited to be in attendance. Those candidates are Melanie Harvey, Rick Mitchell and Jessie Spring.
The Okmulgee County Republicans also plan to schedule a Senate District 8 Republican candidate forum for late January or early February, so be watching for that information.
