Henryetta to host basketball tournament

The Henryetta Knights will host their annual basketball tournament from Jan. 9-11, 2025. This much-anticipated event will feature a competitive lineup of boys’ and girls’ teams from across the state. Games will be held at the Henryetta High School gymnasium, with both brackets promising thrilling matchups.

— Boys’ Bracket Highlights

The boys’ tournament includes McLoud, Beggs, Sallisaw, Valliant, Okemah, Henryetta, Metro Christian and Checotah. The opening round begins Thursday morning with McLoud taking on Beggs at 11:20 a.m., followed by Sallisaw versus Valliant at 2 p.m. The host team, Henryetta, faces Okemah in a prime-time matchup at 7:20 p.m., while Metro Christian and Checotah battle at 4:40 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 7:20 p.m., with consolation, third-place, and seventh-place games rounding out the day. — Girls’ Bracket Highlights

On the girls’ side, the competition features Okemah, Henryetta, Metro Christian, Valliant, Sallisaw, Beggs, McLoud and Checotah. The action kicks off Thursday at 10 a.m. with Okemah facing the home team, Henryetta. Other first-round matchups include Metro Christian versus Valliant at 12:40 p.m., Sallisaw taking on Beggs at 6 p.m. and McLoud squaring off against Checotah at 3:20 p.m. The championship game will be played Saturday evening at 6 p.m.

With a strong lineup of teams and a packed schedule, this tournament is expected to draw a large crowd of basketball enthusiasts. The Henryetta community is gearing up to support the Knights and showcase their hospitality to visiting teams and fans.
