Tigers top Midway in lopsided win
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

The Wilson Tigers delivered an emphatic 87-13 victory over Midway on Tuesday night at Midway Public Schools, with Zion Shelburn and Charles Shelburn each contributing 14 points to lead their team to a dominant performance.

The Tigers wasted no time taking control of the game, opening with a relentless 28-0 run that left Midway reeling. By the end of the first quarter, Wilson held a commanding 33-4 lead and continued to widen the gap throughout the contest. A 45-2 surge in the second quarter solidified their dominance, giving the Tigers a 44-4 lead at halftime.

Wilson’s defense was suffocating, forcing 31 steals and allowing only nine points in the second half. The Tigers’ offense was equally impressive, showcasing unselfish play with 29 assists on 38 made baskets. Zion Shelburn led the charge with seven assists, while Andrew Wilson and Charles Shelburn joined him in hitting multiple three-pointers, propelling the team to an 1131 (35%) shooting performance from beyond the arc.

The Tigers were also unstoppable inside the paint, shooting 27-47 on two-point attempts and securing 33 rebounds. The third quarter saw the team rack up nine assists while outscoring Midway 26-2.
