Ronald Monigold

Ronald Dean Monigold passed away Wednesday, December 11, at his home in Okmulgee. He was 89 years old. Dean was born in Barnsdall on May 20, 1935, to Oral Monigold and Iona Jeter-Clark. He was raised in Barnsdall and graduated with the Barnsdall High School class of 1954 where he excelled in basketball, football and track. He attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah where he was a member of Phi Lambda Chi Fraternity. NSU is where he met his wife Jane, the love of his life. Dean and Jane were married for 67 years. Dean was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Bixby.

Dean enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 1956. After completing basic training at Ft. Sill, he was stationed at Ft. Knox, Tenn. and Ft. Polk, La., later serving in The Army Reserve. Dean married Jane Nesbitt in December 1956. After his military service, Dean and Jane returned to Okmulgee, where they raised their family.

Dean began his career at Okmulgee Oilfield Supply in the late 1950s and later transitioned into the glass industry. He worked for a short time at Ball Brothers and later worked at American Saint Gobain (ASG) in Okmulgee until the plant closed in 1974. He then moved his family to Edmond, where he was the Plant Manager at Temp Safe Glass. In 1977, he relocated his family to Broken Arrow and eventually retired from Ford Glass in Broken Arrow.

Dean was an avid golfer and a skilled player. He had two career hole-in-ones and “shot his age” at 75. After retiring, he was a golf marshal at various courses in the area and enjoyed time at his Fort Gibson Lake house. He was preceded in death by his parents Iona May 20, 1935 – December 11, 2024

Jeter-Clark and stepfather Raymond Clark of Barnsdall; father Oral Monigold of Wichita; twin sister Bonnie Jean Napier, of Del City; and great-grandson Noah Jones of Bixby.

He is survived by his wife Jane (Nesbitt) of the home; four children, Julie Roberds and husband Frank of Preston, Kim Marshall of Okmulgee, Ronnie Monigold and wife Amy of Broken Arrow, and Lori Sparks and husband Kent of Runaway Bay, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Berle Clark and wife Linda, of Barnsdall, grandchildren: Mandy Flanary, Jay Roberds, Tyler Roberds, Rachel Austin, Chris Marshall, Terra Jones, Corey Marshall, Chelsea Curtis, Courtney Kuykendall, Candace Rudd, Caleb Monigold, Alex Sparks, Lauren Sparks, Nic Sparks, Ben Sparks, and Lilly Sparks; as well as great-grandchildren: Claire, Ella and Jack Flanary, Lucas Roberds, Harper, Coraline, and Everly Roberds, Jasper Austin, Wyatt Stepp, Zac, Isaiah, Faith and Kam Jones, Connor Holmes, Kennedy Marshall, Aurora and Essie Curtis, Aiden Brewer, Carsen Kuykendall and Jaxon and Freya Rudd.

Pallbearers are grandsons Chris Marshall, Corey Marshall, Jay Roberds, Tyler Roberds, Caleb Monigold, Alex Sparks, Nic Sparks, Ben Sparks and Connor Holmes. Honorary pallbearers will be Aiden Brewer, Jack Flanary, Zac Jones and Isaiah Jones.

A public visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2024, at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service Chapel. The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. December 17, 2024, at ClearView Baptist Church, 16950 Loop 56 in Okmulgee, with Pastors Jay Roberds and Kent Sparks officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt Okmulgee Funeral Service & Cremation Care, 220 S. Alabama Ave. in Okmulgee.
