Leon Elzy

February 26, 1941 – December 11, 2024

Leon Elzy, a resident of Henryetta, passed this life on December 11, 2024, in Henryetta at the age of 83. He was born February 26, 1941, in Wetumka to Arthur “Earl” and Millie (Chastain) Elzy. He married Florence Ward on April 7, 1963, and they made their home in Henryetta. Leon retired from the City of Henryetta Public Works Department. He was a cowboy by heart, belonging to several riding clubs in this area and roped, bulldogged and took care of his cattle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Florence and a daughter Sandra Combs.

He is survived by his children Janie Sanchez and husband Manuel of Seminole; Leona Harris and husband Lamont of Bristow; and Everett Elzy of Henryetta; grandchildren Amber Croteau of Wewoka; Sadie Potter and husband TJ of Elk City; Ricky Owen Blocker of Elk City; Waylon Henderson of Bixby; Cory Swayzer of Bristow and Randall Elzy of Henryetta; Great-grandchildren Kimberly Turley, Macie Steward, Taylor Croteau, Abbie Steward, Ruby Potter and Quency Swayzer; and life-long friend Sammy Hardgraves of Henryetta.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2024, at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery under the care and direction of Rogers Funeral Home.
