Frances A. Nick

Frances Aline Nick passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 9, 2024, at the age of 86. Frances was born on May 10, 1938, to Jess and Ethel Anderson in Hartshorne.

Frances graduated from Hartshorne High School in 1956. She married the love of her life Bob J. Nick on July 12, 1957. They moved to Borger, Texas to embark on their careers. They had two sons Dr. Jerry Nick and Joe Nick. They moved to Okmulgee, in 1963 when Bob was transferred to Phillips refinery. Frances worked in a couple of jobs until she secured a job in Okmulgee School system as a school secretary for the Okmulgee Middle School and High School for 10 years. She said many times this was her favorite job, and she enjoyed counseling and mentoring the many students she encountered. In 1983, after working a couple years for the Bill Wallace Real Estate Agency, Frances and Bob bought the Don Haynes Real Estate Brokerage and changed the name to the Nick Agency. Over the next several years, they along with their son Joe, transformed the Nick Agency into Okmulgee’s #1 Real Estate/Insurance Brokerage. Frances was a spark plug that worked tirelessly to provide the best service to her valued customers. Frances was also a tireless promoter of Okmulgee, the town she loved. She worked for several years as a red coat ambassador for the Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce. Frances was a great Mother and Grandmother to her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As good as she was as a businesswoman, her family was her love. She was definitely the Matriarch of the family.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents Jess and Ethel Anderson, sister Ruth Moody, May 10, 1938 – December 9, 2024

brothers Jack Anderson and Jerry Anderson, niece Kerrie Pink and brother-in-law Andrew Nick.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years Bob Nick. Sons Dr. Jerry Nick and wife Jearlyn of Okmulgee, Joe Nick of Okmulgee. Grandchildren Robert Nick and wife Chelsie of Bixby, Jeff Nick and wife Cayse of Broken Arrow, Zach Nick and husband Brian of Tulsa, Joseph Nick, Mandy Nick and Mackensie Nick of San Diego California. Her special loves were the great grandchildren Sophia Nick, Daxton Nick and Jack Nick. Niece Sheri Garrett and husband Jimmy of Hartshorne, nephew Dale Moody and wife Dana of Hartshorne, nephews Tommy Anderson, Curtis Anderson and Danny Anderson. Great niece and nephews Payton and Jackson Moody and Brandon Neighbors of McAlester. Brother in laws Johnny Nick, Emmet Nick, Carl Nick and Benny Nick. Plus, numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Okmulgee First Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Leroy Crawford officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Okmulgee Education Foundation.
