The holidays are swiftly approaching and typically the flurry of planning activities is being felt as we gear up for those wonderful times with family and friends. Memories of childhood-fun flood our minds and hearts, and a warm feeling of contentment wraps around us as we turn our attention to Thanksgivings and Christmas events. Following certain traditions brings stability to our lives, and the memories may even evoke a giggle or two as we remember the hustle and hullabaloo of past holidays. Memories such as watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Miracle on 34th Street, savoring Grandma’s famous turkey seasoning and cornbread dressing, attending the candle light Christmas Eve service, seeing the Nativity scene that you bought when the children were little and the stocking your mother made for you by hand ... Most every family has cherished traditions and memories that bring them together; whether it is a Christian experience or just personal in nature. “We always do this at our home,” is often heard among children, teenagers, college students and adults alike. It gives a sense of belonging, acceptance, and a wonderful, special place of being loved.
