High School Football Playoff Showdown

The roar of the crowd is building as four county high school football teams, the Henryetta Knights, Beggs Golden Demons, Dewar Dragons and Wilson Tigers, prepare for their highly anticipated playoff games this Friday. The teams enter the OSSAA Class B and 2A-playoffs with impressive records and a hunger for victory.

— Henryetta Knights take on Salina The Henryetta Knights (8–2), boasting a dominant home record of 5-0 and an overall win percentage of .800, will host the Salina Wildcats (64) at 7 p.m. The Knights have showcased a powerful offense, averaging 419 points for the season, while maintaining a strong defense, allowing only 151 points against. Their impressive scoring average is evident in their ability to consistently score over 31 points in their last seven games, showcasing offensive consistency and resilience. Salina, on the other hand, enters the game with a 6-4 record, a 4-3 district record, and a scoring average of 315 points for and 198 points against. This Friday night’s match promises a hard-fought contest between two determined teams.

— Beggs faces Alva Goldbugs on the road Meanwhile, the Beggs Demons (8-2) face a challenging away game against the Alva Goldbugs (8-2) – also at 7 p.m. Both teams arrive with nearly identical records and impressive win percentages. The Demons, with a 5-1 home record, have scored 356 points while giving up 148.

Alva boasts a slightly better district win percentage (.857 compared to Beggs’ .667), and an offensive output of 300 points to their 188 points allowed. This matchup is expected to be a closely contested battle between two evenly matched opponents.

— Dewar welcomes Depew to the Dragon’s Den Dewar, riding a nine-game winning streak, will look to continue their dominance against a struggling Depew team. Dewar’s strong defense (allowing only 5.3 points per game) will be key in this matchup.

— Tigers host Davenport Bulldogs

Wilson, coming off a resounding 70-20 victory, will face a Davenport team led by promising freshman Chase Mitchell. Wilson has demonstrated significant offensive power throughout the season.

– These playoff games promise exciting matchups and showcase the high level of talent in Oklahoma high school football. Fans are encouraged to attend and support their local teams as they fight for a spot in the next round.
