Knights demolish Atoka
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

In a commanding performance last Thursday, the Henryetta Knights triumphed over Atoka with a resounding 63-7 victory. Henryetta controlled the game from the outset, racking up substantial offensive yardage and preventing Atoka from gaining any real momentum. Here’s a closer look at the game breakdown and key stats.

— First Quarter

Henryetta started the game strong, quickly establishing a 21-7 lead over Atoka. The opening touchdown came when Blake Gaxiolla received a pass from quarterback Brady Norman, followed by a successful kick from Blaze Hill. Shortly after, Henryetta scored a safety to extend their lead. Nathan White then dashed in a 9-yard touchdown, though the kick was unsuccessful. Atoka answered with a 2-yard touchdown by Peyton Pugh, but Henryetta immediately retaliated with a 12-yard run by White, ending the quarter 21-7.

— Second Quarter

The Knights exploded offensively in the second quarter, adding 42 unanswered points. William Perez scored on a 21-yard reception from Norman. Jason Powders then dominated the field with backto- back rushing touchdowns of 27 and 25 yards. White added his third touchdown of the night with a 7-yard rush. Powders struck again with an impressive 50-yard run, and Tayler Hamric capped off the quarter with a 7-yard touchdown. This offensive onslaught brought the halftime score to 63-7, sealing Atoka’s fate early on.

— Second Half

Neither team scored in the third or fourth quarters, with The Knights’s defense and time of possession keeping Atoka at bay. This defensive effort ensured the game remained decisively in Henryetta’s favor, allowing them to close the game without any further challenge from Atoka.

— Key Player Performances

• Jason Powders led the rushing attack with 10 carries for 178 yards and three touchdowns, including a standout 50-yard scoring run. His performance resulted in an impressive average of 17.8 yards per carry.

• Nathan White contributed significantly with 50 rushing yards on six carries, scoring three touchdowns, showcasing his consistent ability to find the end zone.

• Quarterback Brady Norman completed 7 of 10 passes (70%) for 128 yards and two touchdowns. His reliable passing helped Henryetta build an early lead and maintain control throughout the game.

• William Perez was Henryetta’s leading receiver with three catches for 77 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter.

— Defensive Standouts

Henryetta’s defense was dominant, allowing Atoka only 96 total yards. The Henryetta defense forced four fumbles and recovered them, effectively neutralizing Atoka’s offensive attempts. Jordyn Miller led with 10 tackles and three tackles for loss, while Tayler Hamric and Jason Scott contributed significantly to keeping Atoka’s offense stifled.
