Battle of the Demons
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

The Beggs Golden Demons have wrapped up an impressive 2024-25 football season with an 8-2 overall record, setting them up for what fans hope will be a successful playoff run. Under the leadership of Coach Tyler Blizzard, the Demons have not only dominated at home, achieving a 5-1 home record, but also showcased their strength on the road with a 3-1 away record.

Last Friday, Coach Tyler Blizzard’s squad finished the regular season with a 21-12 victory over host Dibble.

Here’s a closer look at the stats and key players driving this impressive season for Beggs.

— Aerial Dominance by Quarterbacks

The Golden Demons’ offense is anchored by quarterback Billy Ramsey, who has shown remarkable efficiency and effectiveness. Ramsey boasts a completion percentage of 70%, having completed 98 of his 140 pass attempts, which to- tals an impressive 2,010 passing yards. His ability to find the end zone has resulted in 25 touchdowns, countered by only four interceptions, a testament to his accuracy and decision-making. Backup quarterback Britton Martin has also contributed with 6 completions out of 11 attempts, totaling 103 yards, one touchdown and one interception, which provides depth and reliability in the QB position.

— Ground Game Contributions While the air attack has been crucial, the rushing game has added a balanced offensive dimension. Leading the ground charge is Jason Nethon with 25 carries for 182 yards and a touchdown. Trey Ross, however, has managed to outperform with fewer attempts, racking up 165 yards and scoring four touchdowns on 16 carries, demonstrating his explosive impact. Andrew Haynes and Billy Ramsey himself have been strong secondary options, with Haynes accumulating 199 yards and two touchdowns on 31 attempts, and Ramsey scoring seven rushing touchdowns on 36 attempts. Each player has contributed uniquely, making it challenging for opponents to defend against Beggs’ multi-faceted rushing attack.

— Star Power Among Receivers The receiving corps has been a crucial element in the Golden Demons’ high-octane offense, led by Ryan Grayson. With 31 catches for 676 yards and nine touchdowns, Grayson has been Ramsey’s go-to target, proving his reliability and athleticism on the field. Other standout receivers include Eli Johnson, who has amassed 342 yards and two touchdowns on 22 catches, and Jordan Wesley, who contributed significantly with 13 catches for 317 yards and four touchdowns. Trevor Dodge, Carson Cooper and Da’Lyn Williams have also played key roles, each contributing yards and touchdowns, keeping defenses guessing and spreading out the coverage across multiple threats.

— Depth and Versatility

Beyond the starters, Beggs has demonstrated depth with players like Kyreawn McCray, who has recorded three catches for 28 yards and one touchdown, and Andrew Haynes, who adds versatility by contributing to both rushing and receiving with three catches for 95 yards and two receiving touchdowns. This depth not only showcases the team’s adaptability but also highlights their strategic rotation that keeps fresh legs on the field and maximizes scoring opportunities.

— Leading Defense Stats

Carson Cooper – 141 Tackles 6 Sacks Issac Taylor – 85 Tackles 4 Sacks Ryan Grayson – 20 Tackles 3 Interceptions – Here’s a look back at the season and what lies ahead for this talented team:

• Aug. 30: Beggs kicked off the season with a statement win over Verdigris (20-10) on their home turf. This initial victory set the tone for the season, showing that the Demons meant business.

• Sept. 13: In another high-scoring home game, the Demons faced Henryetta and managed to pull off a close win, beating the Knights 34-25 in a game that showcased Beggs’ offensive depth.

• Sept. 20: The Beggs defense shone brightly against Okmulgee, shutting out the Bulldogs with a resounding 55-0 victory. This game marked the Demons’ first of two shutouts this season, emphasizing their defensive capabilities.

• Oct. 4: The Demons faced their first defeat of the season against Davis in a close game (28-22). Despite the setback, Beggs quickly rebounded and continued to push forward.

• Oct. 17: In a triumphant return to form, Beggs blanked Comanche in their second shutout of the season, a decisive 55-0 victory that demonstrated their ability to bounce back and control games.

• Nov. 1: Beggs delivered a commanding 56-12 win over Tishomingo, marking their fourth game of the season scoring over 50 points and setting a high bar for playoff performance.

— A Well-Balanced Team

Beggs’ success this season can be attributed to their balanced roster and adaptability on both sides of the ball. The Demons scored a total of 356 points while holding opponents to just 148. This strong offensive output, combined with a solid defense, has kept them competitive in nearly every game. Standout performances have been seen across the board, with key players contributing in passing, rushing, and receiving, as well as defensive standouts who helped secure two shutouts during the season.

— Playoff Bound

With a district record of 4-2, Beggs now sets its sights on the playoffs, where they will face Alva this Friday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. at Alva High School. Fans are optimistic as the Demons enter this crucial phase, hoping their experience and teamwork will carry them deep into the postseason.

The Beggs community, known for its fervent support, is expected to show up in full force as the Demons aim for a strong playoff push. Coach Blizzard and the team are focused on the ultimate goal: to bring home a championship and add to the legacy of the Golden Demons.
