It was a completely dominant game last Saturday as the Oklahoma Sooners welcomed the Maine Black Bears to Norman.
The Sooners cruised to a dominant victory, snapping a threegame losing streak with a 59-14 win at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Jovantae Barnes led the offensive charge for Oklahoma, showcasing his agility with a season-high 203 rushing yards on 18 carries and three touchdowns.
This long run set up his first touchdown of the game, helping the Sooners quickly level the score after Maine initially took the lead with an early touchdown pass by Carter Peevy.
Oklahoma’s defense tightened after Maine’s initial score, forcing several key punts and keeping the Black Bears contained. Quarterback Jackson Arnold kept up the momentum with a pair of rushing touchdowns, one set up by a shanked Maine punt that placed the Sooners deep in opposing territory. With strong contributions from players like Taylor Tatum, who added a one-yard rushing touchdown, Oklahoma’s ground game proved unstoppable as they amassed 220 rushing yards by halftime. This defensive improvement and offensive firepower were critical in securing the Sooners’ victory.
This Saturday, the Sooners (5-4) will travel to take on the Missouri Tigers (7-2) in a 6:45 p.m. game.
