Knights dominate Spiro, 54-14
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

In a game that showcased the power and precision of Henryetta’s football program, the Knights blew the Spiro Bulldogs out of the water with a resounding 54-14 victory. With this blowout, the Knights clinched their fifth win of the season by more than 33 points, proving their strength on both sides of the ball. The Friday night win at home pushed Henryetta’s record up to an impressive 7-2, while the Bulldogs dropped to 3-6, snapping their three-game winning streak.

— First Quarter: Setting the Tone Early The first quarter saw Henryetta’s offense explode out of the gates, scoring on their first drive to establish early momentum. With a blend of ground and air attacks, the Knights marched down the field, ending the quarter with a comfortable lead and little resistance from Spiro’s defense.

Jason Powders opened the game with a touchdown run, marking the first of his four touchdowns on the night.

Brady Norman completed passes that set up key scoring opportunities, starting his night strong with accurate downfield throws.

— Second Quarter: Offensive Onslaught Continues

Henryetta’s offense found its rhythm fully in the second quarter, racking up touchdowns and taking advantage of Spiro’s weaknesses. Powders continued his stellar performance, not only rushing for two additional touchdowns but also showing his versatility by hauling in a receiving touchdown.

Jason Powders scored twice on the ground and added a receiving touchdown to his name in the second quarter alone. Powders was the game’s standout, amassing 158 rushing yards at an impressive 8.8 yards per carry and an additional 56 receiving yards.

Brady Norman threw for two touchdowns in the quarter, ending the first half with 170 passing yards and setting He n r ye t ta up for a commanding lead by halftime.

— Third Quarter: Staunch Defense Shuts Down Spiro As the third quarter rolled around, Spiro attempted to close the gap, but Henryetta’s defense was ready. Henryetta dominated defensively, minimizing Spiro’s rushing attempts and forcing them into passing situations. Although Spiro’s quarterback Brycen Graham put up respectable numbers, with 275 passing yards and a touchdown, his efforts were not enough to offset the overall imbalance on the field.

Jason Powders added to his impressive night by recording a sack and seven tackles, with two for a loss, proving his prowess on both sides of the ball.

Henryetta held Spiro to a meager 26 rushing yards in the game, underlining their superiority in ground defense.

— Fourth Quarter: Closing Out in Style

With the game securely in hand, Henryetta continued to execute offensively and defensively, never allowing Spiro a chance to mount a serious comeback. The Knights capped off their victory with a n o t h e r touchdown and a field goal, finalizing the score at 54-14.

Jason Powders contributed his fourth rushing touchdown of the night, capping off a standout individual performance.

Henryetta’s defense held firm, preventing Spiro from adding any meaningful points in the final minutes.

Next week, the Knights will look to continue their winning ways as they host Atoka at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Spiro will attempt to bounce back as they travel to face Antlers on Friday.
