Alvin Paul Thompson

Alvin Paul Thompson passed away on October 30, 2024, in Morris. He was born on July 9, 1935, in Comanche to Roy and Rachel (Martin) Thompson. A proud veteran of the Army Air Corps, Alvin dedicated his life to serving others, both in his military career and later as an educator.

After honing his skills as a lithographer, he became a teacher at OSU/ Okmulgee, where he inspired countless students until his retirement. Alvin was known for his deep fascination with technology and computers, earning the affectionate title of one of the first “computer geeks” by his family. He embraced the digital age early on, owning one of the first laptop computers.

In addition to his love for technology, Alvin was an enthusiastic amateur radio operator, sharing his passion for HAM radio communications with friends and family. His spare time was spent immersed in books, always eager to learn and explore new ideas.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents and brothers George, Frank, Harry and Brian Thompson. He is survived by his wife Ethel of 69 years, daughter Paula July 9, 1935 – October 30, 2024

Thompson, grandson Terry Overacker and wife Kendra, grandchildren Ivar, Kimberlynn, Bell, Gemma, Braxtin, Blaze and Jacob.

Alvin’s legacy is one of curiosity, dedication and a deep love for teaching and technology. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 1-5 p.m. at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Morris. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church in Morris, with Rev. Kendall Hamilton officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mc-Clendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on Alvin’s Tribute Page at www.mcclendon- winters.com.
