Following a swift and coordinated investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse, the Okmulgee Police Department, in collaboration with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), has arrested two individuals on charges related to child exploitation.

On Oct. 21, local authorities received a disturbing report indicating that child sexual abuse material was being produced within a residence in Okmulgee. Responding quickly, the Okmulgee Police Department enlisted the OSBI for a more comprehensive investigation into the reported crime.

The OSBI special agents identified the suspects as Jennifer Ann Prescott, 31, and her mother, Sharon Ann Mitchell, 56. Evidence gathered in the initial stages of the investigation revealed that the two women had been living with two children, one of whom they were allegedly exploiting.

A search warrant was swiftly obtained, allowing OSBI agents to conduct a thorough investigation of the suspects’ residence. During the search, explicit images were found on the electronic devices of both Prescott and Mitchell, solidifying the grounds for their arrest. The two women were subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Okmulgee County Jail, where they face charges of Child Sexual Exploitation. Their bonds are set at $100,000 each.

Authorities confirmed that the two children found in the suspects’ care have since been safely placed into the custody of the Department of Human Services (DHS). The OSBI and DHS are ensuring that the children receive necessary care and support in the wake of this incident.

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details were provided, but OSBI officials emphasized their gratitude to the multiple agencies involved, including the Okmulgee Police Department, Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police Department and the Department of Human Services.
