Obituaries

Shirley Joan Chilcoat

Shirley Joan Chilcoat, 88, of Beggs, passed away peacefully at her home on October 14, 2024. Born March 13, 1936, in Tulsa, she was the daughter of Fred and Geneva Sanders. After her father passed away, Geneva remarried Bruce Dye, who became Shirley’s father figure.

Shirley married the love of her life, Robert Chilcoat, Sr., on July 11, 1953, and together, they built a beautiful life, moving to Beggs in 1968. A devoted homemaker, Shirley cherished her family above all. She found such fulfillment in helping to care for children in their early years, helping to shape and mold them. She found joy in keeping a warm and welcoming home and had a passion for crafts, especially sewing and embroidery. Her needlework was a testament to her creativity and skill, and she delighted in sharing stories from her past, enriching the lives of those around her.

Shirley was a longtime member of Beggs First Assembly of God Church, where her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and two half-brothers Ronnie Dye and Donnie March 13, 1936 – October 14, 2024

Dye.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Robert; sons Richard and wife Donna Chilcoat and Bobby Joe Chilcoat and wife Betty; grandchildren Robert Chilcoat, Marsha Chilcoat, Curtis Chilcoat, Erica Johnson, Kimberlie Thorne and Roseanna Nichols; three step-grandchildren Deana Houston, Curtis Sandler and Miranda Rogers; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024, at Beggs First Assembly of God Church, with pastor Robert Yandell officiating.

Viewing will take place from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2024, at McClendon- Winters Funeral Home Chapel of Beggs.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on Shirley’s Tribute Page at www.mcclendon- winters.com.
