Lady Bulldogs rally past Mounds for 12-5 win

The Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs pulled off an impressive comeback on Tuesday, storming back from a four-run deficit to defeat Mounds 12-5. Powered by disciplined hitting, aggressive base running and a resilient pitching performance, the Lady Bulldogs showed grit and determination to secure the win.

Mounds jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. A single by Cloud followed by an inside-the-park home run by Miller brought in four quick runs, putting Okmulgee on their heels. Mounds extended their lead to 6-3 in the top of the second inning, thanks to Harig’s RBI single.

But the Lady Bulldogs refused to back down. In the bottom of the third, Okmulgee tied the game with clutch hitting from Kiera Swayze, Ally Lowe, and Brylee Edlin. Their efforts put the Lady Bulldogs back on track, swinging the momentum in their favor.

Ally Lowe, who earned the win for Okmulgee, pitched all seven innings, allowing 13 hits and six runs while striking out six. Despite Mounds’ strong start, Lowe’s composure on the mound and timely outs kept her team in the game.

Knight took the loss for Mounds, allowing 12 runs on 15 hits over six innings. Mounds’ defense couldn’t contain the surging Okmulgee offense, as the Lady Bulldogs racked up 14 walks and applied constant pressure with 13 stolen bases. Dailyn Johnson, Kiera Swayze, and Makiya Hill led the charge on the basepaths, each swiping multiple bags.

Offensively, Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs tallied 15 hits, with Makiya Hill delivering a standout performance. The outfielder went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two RBIs. Cheyenne Jackson and Makiya Hill each contributed three hits to the Lady Bulldogs’ balanced attack, while Brylee Edlin, Ally Lowe, and Kiera Swayze also collected multiple hits. Swayze showed patience at the plate, drawing three walks in five plate appearances.

Defensively, the Lady Bulldogs were sharp, committing no errors and turning a crucial double play. Dailyn Johnson anchored the defense with six key plays, keeping Mounds from gaining any more ground after their early advantage.

Mounds had a strong offensive outing as well, racking up 13 hits. Harig led the team, going 3-for-4, while Cloud and Miller each drove in two runs. Mounds’ defense matched Okmulgee’s error-free performance, with Cloud making seven defensive plays.

Despite their best efforts, Mounds couldn’t hold off the relentless Lady Bulldogs, who continued to pile on runs and seal the victory in the later innings.
