Lady Demons place 3rd at Mounds
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

The Beggs Lady Demons had a stellar performance in last week’s Mounds Tournament, finishing with a thirdplace trophy. Behind strong pitching from Addison Dossett and clutch hitting, the team secured key wins over Morris, Inola and Wilson, while narrowly falling to Dewar and Preston.

— Beggs defeats Morris 5-1

Addison Dossett shone in Friday’s 5-1 victory over Morris, striking out 11 batters in a complete game performance. Over seven innings, Dossett allowed just two hits and one run without issuing a walk. Morris took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning after Fire Clark grounded out, scoring a run, but the Lady Demons quickly responded.

In the bottom of the fifth, Beggs took control. Singles from Angel Aylor and Emma Trimble fueled a two-run inning, putting the Lady Demons ahead 2-1. They would extend their lead further with contributions from Alexis Tecumseh, Taytum Mills, and Aylor, who each drove in runs to secure the win.

On the basepaths, Beggs was aggressive, stealing five bases, including multiple steals by Aylor and Kayleigh Thompson. The team also turned a double play to help seal the victory. Fire Clark led Morris with an RBI and one hit, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Beggs’ momentum.

past Wilson

On Saturday, Beggs surged past Wilson 10-1, thanks to a seven-run explosion in the second inning. The offensive barrage began with an error that scored two runs, followed by an RBI single from Haylee Baughn. Peyton Stewart and Kayleigh Thompson both drew bases-loaded walks, and Aylor capped off the inning with a two-run double.

Addison Dossett picked up her second win of the tournament, allowing just two hits and no earned runs over four innings, while striking out four and walking two. Janelle Proctor, pitching for Wilson, gave up six hits and 10 runs (three earned) in less than two innings of work.

Aylor continued her hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. The Lady Demons also showcased patience at the plate, drawing nine walks, with Thompson and Abigail Harmon leading the way with two each. Beggs’ defense was solid, turning another double play to stifle Wilson’s offense.

— Narrow loss to Preston earns 3rd In a tightly contested game, Beggs fell to Preston 4-3 in the tournament’s third-place game. Despite the loss, the Lady Demons secured a respectable finish, with Preston going on to win the tournament.

• Beggs 2, Dewar 3 – L

• Beggs 5, Morris 1 – W
