The Morris Eagles football team dropped their second game of the year, losing 53-20 on the road against the Liberty Tigers.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty to victory, including Casen Briscoe, who threw for 266 yards and five touchdowns on 19 passes, and also rushed for 35 yards. The dominant performance gave Briscoe a new career-high in rushing yards. Carson Reeder was another key receiver, picking up 188 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Adain Clay had an impressive performance for Morris, contributing three touchdowns in their game against Liberty.
Clay sparked the offense in the second quarter with a 28-yard touchdown run, narrowing the score to 6-13, though the twopoint conversion attempt was unsuccessful. Later in the quarter, Clay again showed his athleticism with a 41-yard touchdown run, bringing MHS to 12 points. However, the two-point conversion failed, leaving the score at 12-27.
In the fourth quarter, Clay continued his impact with a 4-yard touchdown run. He followed up by connecting with Jerry Reilly for a two-point conversion, bringing MHS to 20 points, though they ultimately trailed LHS 20-53 at the game’s end.
The Eagles had eight turnovers (six fumbles and two interception), but had 381 yard rushing compared to Liberty’s 170 yards.
Morris’ defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. The Eagles will now look to get their first win this Friday as they celebrate Homecoming. This will be their first home game of the season, as they face the Haskell Haymakers at 7 p.m.
