Lady Bulldogs struggle in loss to Savanna
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

The Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs faced a tough challenge in the Wilson Softball Tournament last weekend, falling to the Savanna Lady Dawgs 11-1 on Saturday. Despite a valiant effort, Okmulgee was unable to keep up with Savanna’s powerful offense, which took control of the game early on.

Savanna struck first in the bottom of the opening inning, as Katy Ivy, Allie Higgs, and Ivy’s aggressive base running gave the Lady Dawgs an early 3-0 lead. The momentum carried into the second inning, with Bry Vanciel’s two-run triple sparking a fourrun outburst that stretched the lead to 7-0.

In the third inning, the Lady Dawgs continued their dominance with key hits from Bailey Norton, Izzy Connor and Makenna Hoffman, each driving in runs to push the game out of reach for Okmulgee.

Ryleigh Ivy led the way in the pitching circle for Savanna, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out four Okmulgee batters over three and two-thirds innings. Her steady performance held Okmulgee’s offense in check, securing the win.

For Okmulgee, Brylee Edlin was a bright spot at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Makiya Hill drove in the Lady Bulldogs’ lone run, as the team struggled to generate enough offense to keep pace with Savanna’s relentless attack.

Pitcher Ally Lowe took the loss for Okmulgee, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits over three innings of work while striking out three and walking three.

On Monday, Okmulgee fell to Eufaula 16-0 at home.

The Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs will look to rebound in their next matchup against Bishop Kelley on Saturday.
