Third-inning breakout leads Lady Demons past Wilson
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

In a decisive matchup, the Beggs Lady Demons softball team secured a commanding victory over the Wilson Lady Tigers with a stellar performance highlighted by an explosive third inning. The final score stood at 13-2 in favor of the Lady Demons, marking a dominant display of offensive prowess on Tuesday afternoon.

The game started with Wilson taking an early lead in the first inning, courtesy of Khloe Sanders’ double that drove in a run. However, the momentum swiftly shifted in favor of the Lady Demons in the bottom of the first inning. They capitalized on their opportunities, scoring five runs with Alexis Tecumseh delivering a pivotal single that drove in one of the runs.

The defining moment came in the third inning when Beggs erupted for eight runs, effectively seizing control of the game. Angel Aylor, Emma Trimble, Addison Dossett, Abigail Harmon, and Ruby Tenison all contributed significantly with key hits and RBIs during this critical inning.

Pitcher Addison Dossett played a crucial role in the victory, pitching four solid innings where she allowed only two runs on eight hits, striking out four batters without issuing any walks. Her performance on the mound set the tone for the Lady Demons’ defensive stability throughout the game.

Offensively, Dossett also stood out, leading the team with three RBIs while going 1-for-2 at the plate. Ruby Tenison was another standout, going 2-for-3 and contributing defensively with four key plays. The team’s disciplined approach at the plate was evident as they drew seven walks collectively, showcasing patience and strategic awareness.

The Lady Tigers’ efforts were led by Macy Dobson and Janelle Proctor, who each collected two hits in the game. Despite their efforts, the Lady Tigers struggled to contain Beggs’ explosive offense and were unable to mount a significant comeback.

With this victory, the Beggs Lady Demons continue to showcase their strength as they look ahead to further challenges in the season.

The Lady Demons were set to travel to Bristow yesterday, and next week will face Lincoln Christian at home on Monday, then Kellyville on Tuesday. They will then be competing in the Mounds Tournament Sept. 12-15.

The Lady Tigers are currently hosting their softball tournament, sponsored by Muscogee Nation Tourism. Participating squads include Holdenville, Graham-Dustin, Okmulgee, Dewar, Savanna, Mason and Henryetta.
