Knights stifle Ponies in season opener
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

In a commanding start to their season, the Henryetta Knights football team secured a resounding 58-0 victory over the visiting Kellyville Ponies at Friday’s non-league matchup. The game, witnessed by a lively crowd at Henryetta’s home field, showcased a dominant performance by the Knights in both offensive and defensive realms.

Leading the charge for Henryetta was running back Jason Powders, whose explosive runs amassed an impressive 213 yards and four touchdowns on just six carries.

Qu arterback Brady Norman displayed his skills at the helm as he completed 13 of 18 passes for 267 yards, and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 32 yards on three carries.

Nathan Nail also contributed significantly with two receptions totaling 68 yards, remarked Head Coach Weston McGill in a post-game interview. Nail’s receptions, including a notable pop pass, further bolstered Henryetta’s offensive strategy.

Defensively, the Knights were equally formidable, limiting the Kellyville Ponies to a mere 19 yards of total offense throughout the game.

Tayler Hamric, a senior linebacker, stood out with a standout performance that included four solo tackles, seven assists, and a crucial sack. Newcomer Blaze Gaxiola made his presence felt, demonstrating strong blocking and contributing a key reception, showcasing his versatility on the field.
