JC Dixon
Obituaries
August 30, 2024
JC Dixon

JC Dixon was born on August 13, 1930, in Liberty Morris to William Wilton and Clara Leslie (Bandy) Dixon. He was a man of deep character, strong faith, and unwavering love for his family and country.

JC was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Pauline Miller (husband Willard), Nadine Hill (husband Doyle), Ruby Ledford (husband Obie), Doyle Dixon, Junior Dixon (wife Mona), June Delaughder (husband Phil), brother-in-law Harold Edwards, Kay Whomble (husband Jack) and brother James Dixon.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Mary Ella (Blair) Dixon, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. JC also leaves behind his cherished sister Edna Edwards of McAlester and sistersin- law Glenda and Lily May. His legacy continues through his sons, David (wife Janet) of Okmulgee and Mark (wife Marion) of Okemah. He was a proud grandfather to Andy (wife Beth) Dixon of Okmulgee, Sara (husband Kevin) Gibson of Morris and Madison Dixon of Okemah. JC found immense joy in his great-grandchildren: Gage Dixon, Jace Dixon, Abigail Gibson and Anna Gibson. The family deeply appreciates the love and care shown by Max and Nancy King. A special place in the family’s heart is held by Betty Schmidt, a dear family friend.

The family deeply appreciates the love and care shown by Max and Nancy King as well as Glenda Dixon. The family also extends their heartfelt thanks to Mays Home Health, particularly Aubrey and her dedicated team, for their compassionate care.

JC served his country with honor in the United States Air Force for four years, with assignments in Minot, N.D., Germany and Tucson, Ariz. He was a true patriot who loved his country deeply.

JC and Mary celebrated 73 years of marriage, a union that began on August 13, 1930 – August 24, 2024

August 23, 1951, at the Methodist church in Beggs. Their love story was one of enduring commitment and mutual support, built on a foundation of shared faith and values.

Drawing on his experience with cattle both during his upbringing and his time in the Air Force, JC was initially approached by Wilson Packing to work as an order buyer. However, he chose to pursue a career in home construction during the postwar housing boom. His love for agriculture eventually led him and Mary to establish a cattle business, which later expanded into a thriving family farm. JC took great pride in the family business, which now spans three generations.

JC’s relationship with the Lord was central to his life. He often reflected on how God’s guidance and care had seen him through various health challenges over the years. JC knew he was a blessed man and lived his life with gratitude and humility.

JC’s life was a testament to hard work, love, and faith. He leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Friends visited the funeral home on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 5-8 p.m.

There will be a time of viewing prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

A celebration of a life well lived will be held Saturday August 31, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Morris.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on JC’s Tribute Page at www.mcclendon-winters. com.
