Lady Dragons remain unbeaten

The Dewar Lady Dragons continued their unbeaten streak with a commanding performance at the Bristow Softball Tournament last week, securing the championship with a slew of impressive wins. The Lady Dragons, known for their strong offense and solid defense, showcased their skills on their path to victory.

— Dewar defeats Panama 5-1

In one of their matchups on Thursday, the Dewar Lady Dragons defeated the Panama Ladybacks 5-1, thanks to a stellar performance by Emma Bear and a dominant showing from pitcher Brooke Thomas.

The Lady Dragons wasted no time getting on the board, with Emma Bear homering to left field in the first inning, driving in two runs. Dewar extended their lead in the third inning when Bre Harvell doubled, bringing the score to 3-0. The Lady Dragons added two more runs to secure their win.

Brooke Thomas earned the win on the mound, allowing just one hit and one run over five innings while striking out five. The Lady Dragons’ defense was flawless, with no errors committed, and Bre Harvell leading the team with four fielding chances.

— Lady Dragons claim victory over Wister In their second game, the Dewar Lady Dragons faced the Wister Wildcats and came away with a 6-4 win. The Lady Dragons opened the scoring in the first inning with two singles, including one from Temperance Parker that brought in a run.

Although Wister briefly took the lead in the second inning, Dewar quickly regained control. Emmy Hall’s double in the bottom of the third gave the Lady Dragons a 4-3 lead, which they never relinquished. Parker, who also pitched for Dewar, struck out seven batters over four innings, allowing only two hits.

The Lady Dragons’ offense was relentless, accumulating 11 hits, with Hall leading the charge with three RBIs. Dewar also showcased their speed, racking up four stolen bases throughout the game.

• Aug. 24 – Dewar 9, Luther 5

• Aug. 24 – Dewar 9, Sterling/Cement 0 – With their unbeaten record intact, the Dewar Lady Dragons marched through the tournament, capturing the championship and further solidifying their dominance this season. The team’s balanced attack, combining powerful hitting, strong pitching and airtight defense, has made them a formidable force in every game.

Coach Castlebury’s Lady Dragons have set the bar high, and as they remain unbeaten, their sights are firmly set on further success in the weeks to come.

On Monday, Dewar faced Meeker in an evening showdown at home.
