Rita Sue Young
Obituaries
August 16, 2024
Rita Sue Young

On July 23, 2024, we lost our beautiful mom, some called her Genna, Rita Sue Young at the age of 73. She was born on October 12, 1950, to Steve A. and Jessie M. Guinn. Rita Sue was a real go-getter.

She went to McClain High School in Tulsa, graduating in 1968. After graduating she moved to Tahlequah, where she lived with her mom, dad and grandmother. After moving, she worked for Heritage printing and later owned her own print shop for a few years before moving to Okmulgee County in 1990. She was employed by the Water District in Schulter.

In 1993, she met the love of her life, Leonard Young. They were happily married until his passing November of 2005. They loved to camp, fish, and spend as much time as they could with their grandson A.J. Ash.

This past year, she got to see her great-grandson Arthur Jameson born and enjoyed spending time with him until she passed in July.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard Young; her parents Steve and Jessie Guinn; and two brothers Greg and Stevie October 15, 1950 – July 23, 2024

Guinn.

She is survived by one sister Paulette Moss and husband Gary of Tahlequah; one daughter Stephanie Ash of Okmulgee; one grandson Alex Ash and wife Lisa of Okmulgee; three great-grandchildren Aurthur Ash, Hunter and Julie O’Shields all of Okmulgee; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews along with many special friends.

A memorial service celebrating Sue’s life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Foursquare, located 617 N. Oklahoma Ave. (intersection of Oklahoma and Trent). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Peru Missions Cornerstone Foursquare, Feed the Children foundation or a non-profit organization of your choice in her name.
