A tragic accident claimed the life of a Beggs resident and employee of Okmulgee County District 1 on Wednesday afternoon. The collision occurred at approximately 2:06 p.m. on 251st Street, just west of US-75 and about 200 feet west of Winchester.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Ian Lampkins, was operating a True Pac construction roller while traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of 251st Street. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the construction equipment left the roadway, causing it to overturn a quarter turn. Lanpkins was ejected from the vehicle and became pinned under the machinery. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Okmulgee County EMS.

The cause of the collision remains under investi- gation. The condition of the driver at the time of the accident is also under investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.

Trooper Levi Foreman of the Okmulgee County Detachment of Troop B led the investigation, with assistance from Troopers Jacob Brown and Bryce Lewallen. Additional support was provided by the Okmulgee County Sheriff ’s Office, Okmulgee County Emergency Management, and the Beggs Fire Department.

The fatality has sent shockwaves through the local community, particularly among those who knew and worked with Lampkins.

Okmulgee County officials have not yet released a statement regarding the incident, but the community is expected to come together to support Lampkins’ family during this difficult time.
