Barbara James

July 25, 1951 – July 24, 2024

Barbara James, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 24, 2024, just one day before her 73rd birthday. Barbara passed peacefully and was surrounded by her loved ones. She will be remembered for her warm heart, infectious smile, and unwavering love for her family and friends.

Barbara was born on July 25, 1951, and was a longtime resident of Okmulgee. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Science at Oklahoma State University.

She enjoyed a fulfilling life centered around her favorite hobbies, which included golfing, crocheting, bowling, and reading. Barbara found great joy in these activities, often sharing her skills and enthusiasm with those around her.

Above all else, Barbara cherished the precious moments spent with her loved ones. Her husband, Dayle James, was the love of her life, and their bond was a source of strength and happiness for both of them. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Barbara was a devoted mother to her children, Pamela Sutterfield, Rhonda Young, Ben James, and Brian James. She took great pride in watching them grow and succeed, always offering her unwavering support and guidance. Her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren brought immense joy to her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

In addition to her immediate family, Barbara is survived by her caring brother, Doug Jacobs and his wife Debbie. Their sibling bond was built on a foundation of love and support, and Doug will miss his sister dearly.

Barbara James will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, selflessness and loud voice. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched, and her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Okmulgee County Homeless Shelter in honor of Barbara.
