Alert from Okmulgee Co. Rural Water District 2: Voluntary Precautionary Boil Order

Date: Jul 29, 2024

The following message is for the City of Okmulgee Distribution side only:

Okmulgee Rural Water District 2

Due to the City of Okmulgee not providing enough water pressure to serve our feed at the master meter since the morning of July 27 our water tower reserves have been depleted and caused water outages in the water system.

This has caused the potential for contamination as a result of this situation, the drinking water supplied by Okmulgee Rural Water 2 may be unsafe for human consumption. As a precaution, it is advised that the consumers of this water system bring the water to a full, rolling boil for at least one minute before drinking, consumption, food preparation, baby formula preparation, dish washing, tooth brushing, ice making, wound care, and bathing infants who may ingest bath water. Alternatively, bottled water or another acceptable water source may be used.

Those who are on the Beggs Distribution are not affected and do not have to follow this notice. If you are unsure what distribution you are on please call our office 918.756.8910 or our after hours line and leave a message 918.759.7069 and someone will return your call. If you have not had low pressure or an outage, you are most likely not on the Okmulgee side.

This advisory will remain in effect until further notice. Questions concerning this situation should be addressed to Board of Director James Ray 10035 POLK AVE. Preston, OK 74456 County of Okmulgee or email office@prestonwater.com

Further general information can be found on the DEQ website: www.deq.ok.gov

We have been working with the Okmulgee City Manager and Public Works and they are working to resolve the problem.
