Supt. Price aims to propel Henryetta Public Schools to new heights

The Henryetta community welcomes Jason Price as the new superintendent of Henryetta Public Schools, taking over following the retirement of Dwayne Noble.

With over 25 years of experience in education, including extensive roles in various Oklahoma school districts, Price brings a wealth of expertise and a commitment to fostering excellence in education.

Price, an Okemah High School graduate, comes from a family full of educators, which is something he always wanted to do.

“I love public education,” and Price expressed his enthusiasm for returning to a familiar community that holds a special place in his heart.

Growing up near Henryetta, the new superintendent is excited about the opportunity to lead the district with the school board hiring him in Dec. 2023, but added that he also “chose Henryetta.”

While finishing up his tenure at Haworth Public Schools, Price has already been involved in meeting members of the community, organizations and attending events showcasing the Henryetta community.

Following his graduation from East Central University, his career spans roles as a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, and most recently, superintendent at several districts

SEE HENRYETTA PUBLIC SCHOOLS, PAGE A11 including Haworth, Fort Towson, and Butner Public Schools. This varied experience has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of educational leadership.

He and his wife, who is also a school teacher, are proud of their three children and one grandchild.

Price emphasized numerous things, from academics and technology to safety and extracurricular activities, with every aspect playing a crucial role in shaping well-rounded individuals.

Key areas of focus for Price at Henryetta Public Schools, includes enhancing communication and collaboration between the school system and local businesses.

Price stated the importance of the school system recognizing the vital role local businesses play in the community and school district, as their “support is invaluable in creating opportunities for our students and advancing our educational goals.”

He also stressed the importance of maintaining high standards across all aspects of the school system, from infrastructure to staff – in other words a relational business model.

Yes, it is a ‘business’ but ‘relationships’ are key to success. Everything rises and falls on leadership and relationships.

His list of priorities include: Academics, Technology, Transportation, Safety and Security, Buildings and Grounds, Child Nutrition, Special education, extracurricular Activities, School Projects and Personnel.

Buildings and grounds, special education services, and extracurricular activities all contribute to the overall educational experience, Price explained. “It’s essential to ensure we provide the best environment for both learning and personal growth.”

Throughout his career, Price has been a proponent of strong leadership and nurturing relationships within the community.

“I am committed to being a leader who listens and responds to the needs of our students, staff, and community.”

As he settles into his new role, Price looks forward to connecting with the Henryetta community and building on the district’s successes.

“Together, we will work towards a positive future for Henryetta Public Schools,” Price stated at the start of the new school year.

“I am honored to lead this district and excited about the journey ahead.”

Henryetta Public Schools resumes classes on Thursday, Aug. 15.

— Jason Price is also the author of the book 51 Reasons to Live: Your Playbook for a Comeback. “We will all face suffering and pain during life’s journey. What should we do when those times come? Jason Price, who tragically lost his son, Austin, in an automobile accident, uses practical lessons from the road he has traveled to explain how we can daily face and overcome personal grief. It’s your time for a comeback!”
