Community spirit shines at OSUIT’s Summer Jam fundraising event

We at the Okmulgee County Humane Society extend our gratitude for the Summer Jam Fundraising Event which took place July 18. This effort was spearheaded by OSUIT PAWS (People for Animal Wellness and Safety), who coordinated with nine other campus clubs to include SGA (Student Government Association, RHA (Residence Hall Association), PLOT (Professional Leaders of Tomorrow), PTK (Phi Theta Kappa), ISA (International Society of Automation), SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Acceptance), GEO (Gaming and Entertainment Organization), VCC (Visual Communications Collective) and CSPN (Competitive Sports Players Network).

Each club purchased and donated an exciting item to be raffled by $2 tickets. A lot of work went into creating this fun event.

Some of the fun included free food, face painting, snow cones, a sidewalk art contest, a corn hole toss, a water balloon fight, an inflatable obstacle course and a dunk tank.

We certainly hope all who attended enjoyed themselves as much as OCHS members. OCHS had a booth with a slideshow of our adoptable pets, a binder showcasing profile bios with photos and our Adoption Center plans. We met many people and picked up two new fosters. Still, this was an active event, not one to merely sit and observe, so we managed to partake in many of the fun festivities!

All together, OSUIT clubs raised $1,513 to go towards our new, upcoming Adoption Center. We are so proud and very thankful for all who contributed and offered support by donating time, funds, purchasing raffle tickets and attending this amazing event.

We invite you to follow us on Facebook to see videos from Summer Jam and keep informed of our upcoming events. You will also get to see our featured adoptable pets who are in need of forever homes in foster care and boarding. To view our entire list of adoptable pets, visit our website at www.okmulgeehumane. org/adoptables.html.
