Patricia L Kennedy, known to most as ‘Pat,” passed away in Tulsa, on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the age of 75. Pat was born June 13, 1949, in Saint Louis, Mo., to Raymond and Shirley (Bulmahn) Farrin. Pat lived in Saint Louis until she met and later married Mike Kennedy on June 29, 1968. Pat attended Northeastern State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education. Pat and Mike made their home in Weleetka, for many years, relocating to Okmulgee in 1997. Pat was a teacher at Weleetka until her retirement in 2014.
Pat was an accomplished piano player. She shared her talents with many over the years while playing for several churches. Pat was a wonderful cook, sharing meals with others while entertaining at her home and cooking for large groups at church camps. She was an avid bird watcher. She and Mike created a bird sanctuary in their backyard. Her family recalls the many hours they spent fishing together. Pat was always prepared with a snack if the fish weren’t biting. She was proud of her children, and deeply loved her eight grandchildren and spending time with them. Pat was a believer who had a strong relationship with God. She was a true servant and member at Trinity Baptist Church, Morris.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mike; daughter Julie Woods and fiance Chris Gardner of Broken Arrow; sons Shawn Kennedy and wife Shelly of Preston, and Greg Kennedy and wife Katie of Norman; brothers Ron Farrin and Art Bardmass; sister Sue Waddell; grandchildren Landon Gauger, Mabrey Woods, Avary Gardner, and Braxton, Blake, Brinley, Dillon and Ethan Kennedy.
A service celebrating Pat’s life will be Friday, July 19, 2024, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Okmulgee. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 1-7 p.m. at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Reverend Kendell Hamilton and Dr. Bryaden Buss will officiate.
