Tuesday, June 18, 2024

  • Provided Traffic Cones for Sheriff’s Office: Delivered and set up traffic cones at the courthouse for election returns to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety.
  • EMPG Grant Quarter 3 Reports: Continued work on compiling and finalizing the Quarter 3 reports for the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG). Ensured all necessary data was accurate and up to date.

  • Inventory Correction and Surplus Determination: Reviewed and corrected discrepancies in the inventory. Identified items that are no longer needed and prepared them for surplus.

 

Friday, June 21, 2024

  • Storm Siren Grant 1: The grant is in the final stages of completion. All necessary documentation and compliance checks are being finalized
  • Floodplain Management: Began reviewing floodplain ordinances to ensure all information is current and necessary for effective floodplain management. Received general inquiries regarding building within the floodplain, which were addressed accordingly.

Tornado Recovery Update

  • FEMA Scoping Meetings: Completed initial scoping meetings with FEMA. Follow-up meetings are scheduled for the first week of July to further assess damage and coordinate recovery efforts.
  • New Storage Building Construction: Work began on the new storage building at the Emergency

Management office. The frame of the building has been completed. The concrete floor is scheduled to be poured on Monday, June 24, 2024. Estimated completion of the building is Friday, June 28, 2024.

  • Assistance with Structure Fire in City of Okmulgee: Provided water and electrolytes on the scene of a structure fire in the City of Okmulgee. Assisted multiple responding agencies including:
  • Okmulgee Fire Department
  • Morris Fire Department
  • Henryetta Fire Department
  • Dewar Fire Department
  • City of Okmulgee Emergency Management
  • Okmulgee County EMS
  • Creek Nation EMS
  • Mercy Regional EMS

 

Several firefighters required minor treatment for excessive heat exposure. Temperatures were extremely high, with heat indexes reaching 105-110 degrees.

  • Heat Advisory: Temperatures are expected to remain high with heat indexes between 105-110 degrees. Stay hydrated and take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
