Sue Gleason, 80, of Okmulgee, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 7, 2024.
A beloved wife and mother, she was proceeded in death by her mother Maxine Julia Swearingen; two sons David Wesley Jones and Steve Boyd Johnston; as well as her brother Jimmy De-Wayne Whitman.
As the owner of Sue’s Little Peso Mexican Restaurant, she was well known throughout the Okmulgee area for her delicious authentic Mexican food and special white sauce.
She loved growing flowers in the yard, good movies, golden oldies music, getting to know people and making everyone laugh.
She is survived by her husband James (JR) Gleason; and two sisters Charlotte Klutts and Julia Cole, along with Julia’s husband Tom.
She will be missed by her extended family including Eva Gleason of Beggs; brother and sisters-in-law Mike and Claudia Lee, John and Gwen Dodd and Rex and Celia Gleason; along with many June 7, 2024
nieces, nephews and friends.
A service to celebrate her life was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at McClendon- Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee. A reception will follow in the Mc-Clendon-Winters Life Celebration Center. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 302 S. Seminole, Okmulgee, OK 74447, or in care of the funeral home.
