Fatal Collision Claims One Life, Injures Another

A collision last Wednesday near Henryetta claimed the life of a Tulsa man.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the accident on June 5, at 8:37 a.m. on OK-375 southbound mile marker 101, around four  miles south of Henryetta.

According to the OHP, Lamont Nathan, 48, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet SU, when it veered off the roadway to the right, crashing through a fence and subsequently colliding with several trees. The impact of the collision resulted in the driver being ejected from the vehicle, the distance of which remains unknown.

Nathan tragically expired at the scene due to severe head injuries sustained in the crash. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Tulsa, for further examination.

A passenger in the vehicle, John Ervin Frank, 49, also from Tulsa, sustained trunk internal injuries and was airlifted to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa. He is listed in stable condition.

The investigation into the cause of the collision and the condition of the driver is currently underway, led by Trooper Chris Dennis of the Indian Nation Turnpike Detachment. Assisting at the scene were  the Henryetta Fire Department and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.

Both the driver and the passenger were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
