Muscogee Nation Festival nears

Variety of sports events planned

Each year, thousands gather at the Claude Cox Omniplex in Okmulgee for a weekend filled with activities celebrating the Muscogee people. This annual celebration encompasses multiple weekends, includes cultural exhibitions, concerts featuring local and national acts, arts and crafts, great food, carnival rides, a parade, and many more festivities for the entire family to enjoy. All activities are free to attend and open to the public.

There are lots of sports activities and tournaments planned for a wide variety of spectators. Here is an overview of some of those things and all event information and registration forms are available at creekfestival.com:

MN Festival 5k & Fun Run

Saturday, June 22 • 7:30 a.m. 5k Registration In-Person Pre-register by June 16 at 11:59 p.m. Race Day Registration – East of the Mound Building – 6-7:15 a.m. Participants will receive a tech tee, bib and finishers medal! (Limit: 350 participants) Virtual Live beyond the Reservation and can’t attend the Festival? Participate virtually! Virtual participants will be mailed

SEE MUSCOGEE NATION FESTIVAL, PAGE B2 a commemorative tech tee and finishers medal! (Limit: 100 participants) Virtual participants must register by June 16 at 11:59 p.m.

— Free Fun Run/Walk

Register for free on race day to participate. The Fun Run will begin immediately after the 5k. — Cornhole Tournament

Sunday, June 16 • Mvskoke Dome Advanced – PPR 8.00 & Up

• Registration: 11 a.m. • Bags Fly: 12 p.m. 1st: $1,200; 2nd: $700; 3rd: $400 Competitive – PPR 6.51-7.99

• Registration: 12 p.m. • Bags Fly: 1 p.m. 1st: $800; 2nd: $400; 3rd: $200 Intermediate – PPR 6.50 & Below

• Registration: 1 p.m. • Bags Fly: 2 p.m. 1st: $600; 2nd: $300; 3rd: $100 This one-day tournament will include Advanced, Competitive and Intermediate divisions with two rounders for seeding followed by double-elimination bracket play for each division.

• Registration: 7 a.m. • Deadline: June 19

• Entry Fee: $100 per person Shotgun Start: 8 a.m. Two Flights Each Day

• Flight 1: Any Age • Flight 2: 55+

• 36 Team Limit/Day – No Exceptions Payouts (Split Between 2 Flights) 1st: $800; 2nd $600; 3rd: $400 4-Person Scramble, Longest Drive, Closest to pin, door prizes and goodie bags.

• 1 p.m. Advanced — All-Indian Rodeo Sunday & Monday, June 14-15

• 7:30 p.m. at Bob Arrington Rodeo Arena — Softball Tournament • Slowpitch: June 14-16

• Fastpitch: June 21-23 — Tennis Tournament

Saturday & Sunday, June 15-16 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. • Hawthorne Park in Okmulgee Mini Tennis Clinic Saturday, June 8 • 8 a.m. – 12 noon Hawthorne Park in Okmulgee Junior players (ages 6-18) — Volleyball Tournament
