Robert Lee Pinkston, Sr.

Robert Lee Pinkston, Sr. was born December 8, 1938, in Okmulgee, and passed away at his home in Natura on May 3, 2024.

Robert “Bob” was a lifetime member of the Bowring Baptist Church. Bob graduated from Twin Hills Public School in 1956. He served in the National Guard, 279th Infantry. Bob attended Connors State College and then he attended Northeastern State University where he received a Bachelor Degree in Education and later a Masters Degree in Administration.

Bob married the love of his life Carol Pinkston on March 31, 1961, at Preston Baptist Church. They were married for 61 years and three months. They have four children Robert, Cindy, Sherri and John Pinkston. He began his teaching career at Natura School and taught for one year, then began at Twin Hills Public School where he coached basketball, taught math then soon became Superintendent. He retired after 52 years of working in public education.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Pinkston; his parents Delmar and Elma Pinkston; one brother Darrell Dean Pinkston; one sister Ruthy Jean Pinkston. Bob leaves behind four children of Natura, Robert and Teresa Pinkston, Cindy and Patrick Taylor, Sherri and Gary McElroy and John and Chelsea Pinkston; 13 grandchildren – Nick Taylor of Tulsa, Lee and Paige Pinkston of Natura, Denver Pinkston of Austin, Texas, Brett and Madi Taylor of Natura, Darbi December 8, 1938 – May 3, 2024

and Cameron Benavidez of Twin Hills, Dax and PJ McElroy of Natura, Rylee and Allison Pinkston of Natura, Kaylyn Bailey of Beggs, Johnathan Hutchinson of Beggs, Daci, Nevaeh and Brentley McElroy of Natura; four great-grandchildren – Brynlee and Morgan Pinkston of Natura, Tripp McElroy of Natura, and Mateo Benavidez of Twin Hills. Bob’s hobbies included watching his grandchildren compete in sports, checking his cattle, going to the sale barn, and sitting on the back porch watching his cats. Casketbearers will be Nick Taylor, Lee Pinkston, Denver Pinkston, Brett Taylor, Dax McElroy, Cameron Benavidez, Jared Sutter, Zac Pinkston, Jake Mc-Cullah, Ben Pinkston and Larame Pinkston. Honorary Pallbearers – Brynlee Pinkston, Morgan Pinkston, Tripp McElroy, Allison Pinkston and Mateo Benavidez.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Twin Hills Gymnasium. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon- Winters Funeral Home of Morris. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may be shared with the family on Robert’s Tribute Page at www.mcclendon- winters.com.
