Debbie Sue West

Debbie Sue West, a beloved wife, and mother, of Okmulgee, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in Tulsa. She was 64 years old.

Born on September 28, 1959, in Riverside, Calif., Debbie was the daughter of Jimmie and Carolyn (Taylor) West. Growing up in California, Debbie attended school and began her journey into motherhood. Eventually, she relocated to Oklahoma in June of 1995, where she would begin to build her life and family.

In Oklahoma, Debbie found a new home and the love of her life, Michael Jones. They shared 25 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Debbie was a determined woman who valued education, earning her associate degree in Business Management eight years ago. This educational achievement paved the way for her successful career in Environmental Control for the Muscogee Creek Nation at the hospital in Okmulgee.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Debbie had a passion for music, particularly enjoying bands like Metallica. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including spending time with her family and her beloved dogs. Debbie had a green thumb and took delight in gardening, as well as working on cars. Her caring nature extended to everyone and everything around her, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Debbie is preceded in death by her mother Carol Sue West; and her son, John Holbrook; and her grandparents, September 28, 1959 – April 30, 2024

Jimmie Taylor and Donna Ruth Taylor “MaMa.” She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, cherished by her family: her devoted husband, Michael Jones; daughters, Carol Foster West, Kathleen Holbrook, and Jennifer Jones; along with numerous other loving relatives and many friends.

A public viewing and visitation was held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service to honor Debbie’s life took place at 1 p.m. on May 6, 2024, at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service Chapel, 220 S. Alabama Ave. in Okmulgee. During the service, Debbie’s daughter, Kathleen Holbrook, shared memories and spoke of her mother.

Debbie was laid to rest with the support of her pallbearers: Kathleen Holbrook, Michael Jones, Anthony Moss, Steven Hibbard, Jennifer Hibbard and Braiden Hibbard.

Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service & Cremation Care, 220 S. Alabama Ave. in Okmulgee. Family and friends are invited to leave words of comfort, special memories, and condolences for the family online at www. schaudtfuneralservice. com, honoring Debbie’s life and the impact she made on those around her.
